As I sat outside and listened,
A sound permeated my ears
From a little fella of nature,
I couldn't see but I could hear.

The 1st and 3rd notes are higher
In this bird's four note song.
Fee-bee-Fee-bay he's known to say;
I could listen all day long.

A silhouette of a dainty bird
I did see one sunny day.
From a high limb, he sweetly sung,
Before he went on his way.

I once got on the Internet
To look up this talented bird.
I found a little Chickadee
Is the singer that I heard.

Just a few minutes later,
Surprisingly, through the door
The bird I just looked up,
Was sweetly singing like before.

Hard to believe this tiny bird,
Who's nearly four inches long,
Can carry out a tune
That echoes so loud and strong.

The next day at a local park
I heard a chickadee sing
Among the blossoming trees;
I felt the warmth of spring.

As the season brings rebirth,
I'll continue listening to the call
From the lil' black-crowned bird
Who greets the fiery ball.
